![]() | Special Events Intern - February 2012 - May 2012 I worked as the Special Events Intern at the Minnesota Zoo in the spring of 2012. The purpose of my internship was helping to zoo prepare for their annual Beastly Ball Masquerade. My work centered around securing, storing, sorting, and keep records of nearly 400 individual auction items ranging from costume jewelry to autographed sports memorabilia to exotic vacations and exclusive zoo activities. I also solicited several items including a trip to the North Shore of Minnesota complete with a hotel stay, dinners, and various activities. I also helped showcase the items, designing signs, writing descriptions, and helping set up the event. On the actual event day, I helped guide guests around the building and took care of the samba band and dancers that were hired as entertainers. In 2012, the Beastly Ball hosted nearly 650 guests and raised over $400,000 for the zoo. |
