Communications Intern - September 2011 - December 2011

Just after graduation, I served as the Communications Intern at Scholarship America. While there I wore a variety of hats within the organization taking on tasks as an event planner, a graphic designer, and a writer.

One of the most important tasks I took on while at Scholarship America was assisting in the planning and execution of their 50th Anniversary Celebration to honor the organization's founder and success. I also worked as a designer, creating the template for a downloadable Blog Book. This book serves as a place for Scholarship America to consolidate a years worth of scholarship advice in one place.

The other major portion of my internship including writing several articles for publication. This included writing a blog post on The Scholarship Coach hosted by U.S. News and World Report. I also wrote several features on individual scholarship recipients and organizations including the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, an organization that provides scholarships that allow homeless youth the chance to go to college.

Other tasks I completed while at Scholarship America included interviewing scholarship recipients, greeting board members, and participating in meetings to plan the future of Scholarship America.
