Catherine Roman

I graduated from the Liberal Arts Honors Program at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in May 2011. I majored in Strategic Communications, a degree that combines Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising. I minored in Spanish, and acquired a strong background in graphic design and psychology. As part of my major, we were expected to utilize our academic knowledge in applications relevant to the business world. I wrote press releases, performed SWOT analyses, evaluated the messaging and media strategies of various organizations, and developed campaigns for clients.

Most of my classes were taught by agency professionals. One professor in particular inspired the way I approach every communications endeavor. He told us that when we sell a nail, we are not really selling a nail, but rather telling the story of the pictures that hang from that nail and the home that can be built with it.
